August Word of the Month

"All you need is the plan, the road map, and the courage to press on to your destination."
Earl Nightingale

August Word of the Month

 VALUES

noun
plural noun:
  1. the regard that something is held to deserve; the importance, worth, or usefulness of something.
2.a person's principles or standards of behavior; one's judgment of what is important in life.

When I wrote about this word towards the end of last month, I said I would be revisiting it.
It has been ringing in my ear ever since then.
There is a vast difference between what value a thing may have and what it is that I value. There is also a definite distinction between what I value and what my values are.
What value does something have?
Completely arbitrary.
What I value?
A little more easily defined.
What my values are?
That is the essence of who I am.
When I think about it, without knowing what my values are,can anything even have a value?
I think not.
Values should be obvious.
They should be obvious to me and I should hope that this would be reflected in the way I lead y life.
People are always talking about balance in life. They do yoga, meditate, pray or climb mountains.
All well and good.
All just tools.
Knowing what your values are and then living by them.
That's where you find balance.
